Resilient Solutions for
Climate and Community
Bear Collaborative meets at the junction of climate adaptation, social equity and personal & community resilience.
The diversity of Bear’s offerings reflect Jay’s life commitment to learning and service. As a mediator, Jay facilitated the resolution of disputes –workplace, small claims, housing and family. As an Expressive Arts Therapist, Jay helped clients through trauma, addiction and grief. As a social historian, Jay interviewed Indigenous residential school survivors and recorded their powerful life stories. As a community volunteer, Jay restored salmon habitat, led restorative justice circles and is currently working with their neighbourhood for disaster preparedness.
Jay created Bear Collaborative in response to their climate grief and its call to action. Resilient climate solutions are not siloed environmental initiatives led by scientists, rather convergent collaborative efforts created by diverse humans who are addressing societal injustices alongside ecosystem collapse.
